I took in a rescue schnauzer that was so bad the shelter did not even recognize his breed. After shaving all of the matted hair and de-fleaing him, he looked like a skeleton with bright red skin. He continued itching until he made himself bleed. I spent hundreds, closer to a thousand, dollars on treating my yard and changed laundry detergents. I already had a registered schnauzer who has always been on a reputable dog food so I never thought it could be the food. The vet suggested shots, pills, etc. but nothing seemed to be working. Sometimes I would just cry over him because he was so miserable with his skin but so happy to have a home. I was telling his story at a meeting one day and a woman told me about your dog food and how it helped her dog’s allergy problems. So I went that day and bought a bag of it. His itching got better almost immediately, he began to gain weight and his hair turned from pure white to a beautiful silver and his skin from red to a healthy pink. I did try all of your allergy brands and through trial and error have found the Sweet Potato and Fish formula the best for him. By the way, my other little schnauzer is older but has lost weight and her muscle tone is back where it should be for a dog half her age and her doctor is extremely pleased! I have a minitature schnauzer who has alleries and has had a serious bout with pancreatis. The Vet recommended Science Diet, Duck and Potato a few years back. Recently, I decided to step out on faith and try Natural Balance. He loves it. I know have to feed him twice daily, or he would eat the entire bowl. He never ate like that with Science Diet. I chose the Natural Balance® Small Bites Potato & Duck Formula. This week, I ran out of Natural Balance and decided to feed him the Duck and Potato Science Diet in the cabinet. He vomited within 2 hours. Throwing it in the trash. Bought Natural Balance again today. Will never use Science Diet again. Thanks for creating this wonderful food. Felicia, NC

My cat, Cheeks, is close to 5 years old and became pretty overweight this past year. Besides letting him out on a harness and leash... he doesn't get much exercise. I place him on your reduced calorie formula last year, but didn't see any difference. Two months ago I changed to the Natural Balance® Green Pea and Duck Formula after my neighbor had great luck with her cat losing weight with this product...and sure enough... Cheeks has lost at least a couple of pounds. Instead of sleeping all day and night, he is a lot more active with me and my other cat, Piper!!! He does bug me more during the night with wanting get hugs and play, but for his health.... I will take that anyday! Thanks for the great product!!! I want you all to know that thanks to Mr. Van Patten's specialized foods for dogs, my dogs are able to eat. I have labrador retrievers with severe allergies and if you all didn't have Natural Balance® Potato and Duck Formula as well as Sweet Potato & Fish, I don't know what I would do for them. Thank you so much for recognizing that not all dogs are the same and making it possible for my dogs (my babies) to have food that is not only nutritional, but food they can eat that digests well and helps control their allergies. My dog of 8 years has suffered extreme food allergies. I was using Royal Canine Venison & Sweet Potato Dog Food which is by prescription only. They add soya to their ingredients, which we all know is one of the items dogs are allergic too. Since she has been comsuming your Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison Formula, she has had remarkable results. Please do not change your ingredients, as my dog is happier, more energetic, and her paws and ears are no longer full of yeast. Thank you, Thank you. Laura, FL

A few months back my 9 yr. old cat started vomiting on a weekly basis. Blood tests showed that her white blood cells, leukocytes and eosinophiles were all elevated and the vet thought this most likely indicated a food allergy. He recommend Z/D brand food which was quite expensive and also meant a 30 minute roundtrip drive to his office to get it. I did some research online and found several reviews of your products so I purchased the dry food version of Natural Balance® Green Pea & Duck Formula. I am very happy to report that my cat has been on for almost two months and the vomiting has stopped. I just purchased the Green Pea & Salmon formula because I now have a kitten who doesn't seem to like the duck formula. Both cats do like the salmon. I have been feeding all three of my dogs this line of food and my cat too for the past six months. I can not even begin to tell you how pleased I am with not only their coat, but it has helped their skin as well. My cat suffered from dandruff and that has all gone away. I have a dachshund and he has skin issues... not anymore. And the texture of his hair is so much softer and better. My lab and my yorkie poo are the puppies and the fact that I can feed all three dogs the same food is amazing! I just love your product and tell as many people as I can about it. My eleven year old cat developed a food allergy about one year ago. After spending a large amount of money on her to find out the cause of her hair loss, she was diagnosed with food allergies. For the past eight months I have been buying a prescription brand cat food sold only by my veterinarian. (Venison/Pea & Duck/Pea) About one month ago, I came across your brand of cat food at our local pet food/garden store. (Zam Zows) I went ahead and bought the Natural Balance® Green Pea & Duck Formula. My cat loves this food so much better than the one I was getting from my vet. Yesterday, I came across the new Green Pea & Salmon and Green Pea & Chicken flavors and purchased those from Petco. I'm anxious to blend these flavors in to see if my cat likes them just as much. Thank you for making a quality, limited ingredient cat food that keeps my cat's allergies in line. The cost of your product is much easier for me to afford as well. I adopted a sick little kitten in the fall of 2008. When we got her she was bloated, gassy and had loose stools. After lots of money spent on anti-biotics, de-wormers and probiotic supplements, we decided to try a new food. My veterinarian suggested the Natural Balance® Green Pea and Duck Cat food for Minnie. She felt it was better than the prescription food sold in her office. After just two weeks on her new diet, Minnie was visibly less bloated and her digestive issues cleared up completely. She loves the food and we had no problems switching our older cat on to it as well. Thanks so much for making a food that is healthy and that allows my little baby to not cause a stink. I would like to suggest adding cat treats to the Duck and Green Pea line. I give treats to my older cat in secret and would love to give Minnie a special treat as well. Lisa, PA

I want to thank you for the natural Balance. Polly is a 15 year old Mini-pin She was not eating after all tests showed nothing except old age. The vet gave me some ideas for getting her to eat. Polly was just withering away. I tried every home made dog food recipe nothing worked. I went to the local pet store that sold health brands of dog food. That is when my Polly's life was saved.I found Natural Balance® Dog Food Rolls. I bought the rolls very small sample size and gave her a slice and she inhaled it. Hi - I just wanted to tell you how wonderful I think your dog food is! My little Yorkie has been eating Nutro for 6 years and she has had so many digestive issues. She has been on pepcid for 2 years and she still throws up in the middle of the night at least 5 times a week. I first saw Natural Balance (NB) in the stores but never gave it a thought until I read about NB's quality in the Whole Dog Journal. Last week, I rescued/adopted two Newfoundlands that had more or less been neglected for their first two years. They were kept as backyard dogs with no socialization, training or even walks. Fortunately, the owner turned them in to our local Humane Society which is how I found them. I had unique health concerns about Ad'y - at 1-y/o, she was hit by a car but the previous owner waited a week before getting proper medical attention. She required surgery to reset her hip. When I was brushing her, the brush kept catching on something, I thought a foxtail. To my horror, I found surgical staples in her flesh from that surgery…OVER A YEAR AGO. The previous owner never took her back to have the staples removed! She was turned in with so many mats in her fur that the matting covered the staples! She also had multiple imbedded foxtails that created a mass the size of a macadamia nut on both front paws. The foxtails had to be surgically removed. The nutritional needs of all my dogs is a priority, but given her background, Ad’y had special concerns and would barely eat. I tried NB dry food alone, and even made fresh chicken breast & rice...nothing. I also have three orphaned puppies that I'm fostering for a rescue group; I am feeding them Natural Balance® Canned Chicken Formula. On a whim, I added the puppies' NB Chicken canned food to her dry food. SHE LOVED IT. She even wanted second-helpings. I was so excited and happy to see her eat so well for the first time. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Personally, I have to admit I was impressed with how good it smelled as were my 11-y/o Newf & 13 y/o Shep-Husky. I've started adding some to their meals as well. They're so excited about meal time. It's great to see "The Old Ladies" display youthful excitement. I am writing to first of all thank you for your outstanding products. I have the world's pickiest eater, a cocker spaniel named Hershey. I was in Petco about a year ago and was given a sample of your Natural Balance® Dog Food Rolls and a coupon. Hershey is a dog that was used to home cooked chicken or beef. He would not eat anything else and believe me I tried EVERYTHING!!! I gave him a little of the Beef Roll and he has been eating it and enjoying it every since. I mix it with the dry food...WOW!!!! I am sooooo very happy and pleased because my baby is finally eating what I know is good for him and provides all the nutrients he needs. It is a relief!!! Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison Formula saved my boxer's life. She was vomiting her her food, wouldn't eat, lost all her hair, and he ski was turning black - this went on for months! The vet said "this is a thyroid problem" and not a food problem. I said a food problem - well I researched this illness and it turns out to be her food, like I said! I also researched foods without grains and found your food! 3 months later she loves your dog food for one; she keeps it all down, and for two; all of her hair grew back!!! All in 3 months!!! I just want to add to the chorus of thanks for this wonderful food. A bout with irritable bowel left my little terrier mix unable to eat chicken or lamb. He was already allergic to fish and oats so I was very happy to find your Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison Formula. He's done really well on it - indeed, his coat now looks better than it ever has before and no more issues with the irritable bowel. Please don't ever change or discontinue this wonderful food! i just wanted to thank you for your fabulous Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Formulas. We first used your product for our oldest dog who kept getting infected ears and paws and a vet suggested your food. It worked! Our youngest dog is a love and starting having seizures which just about killed us. Tests showed no medical problems, and he and our third dog had been on other supposedly natural food - we were just feeding your food to the older dog. Poor little Peanut kept having seizures which were agonizing to watch. We switched him over to natural balance and guess what - he hasn't had a seizure since! The dogs love the Natural Balance® Potato and Duck Formula as well as Lamb and Brown Rice Formula. Their coats are better, their digestive sytem is better - just happier guys all around. My family and I would like to thank you for your wonderful product. We have a 13 1/2 year old Chocolate Lab, Kahlua. She has grown with our children and a beloved member of our family. Last summer, she could barely stand and couldn't walk. Her appetite was non-existant, she wouldn't eat. We brought her to the vet and she had no cancer, heartworm, liver or kidney problems, and were sent home. We were thankful that we were able to bring her home. As an aside, she's always had food allergies, so we've always struggled with what to feed her. Soon after the vet trip, we ran out of food (another brand) and now were forced into switching. For us, being unable to find her food and running out couldn't have come at a worse time. We saw your Natural Balance® Fish and Sweet Potato canned formula and thought we'd give it a try. She readily accepted and had no difficulty transitioning foods. She regained her strength and stamina and began walking and standing on her own again. Now, when we open a can for Kahlua, our other dog Shadow and cat Wednesday come running. Now, the other two get dry and kahlua gets a mixture of canned and dry. Natural Balance has done great things for my dog, Rockaet. We are especially big fans of the Natural Balance® Eatables Dog Food™ can food, which we mix with Natural Balance Lamb and Brown Rice, or Sweet Potato and Venison. After having several bouts to the vet for some neurological issues (which are fixed now!) Rocket stopped showing interest in his Natural Balance deli rolls. I know for sure it was due to negative association. That was the only thing he ate while staying at the vet. Since we've introduced Eatables to him, he's shown a whole new excitement about feeding time. Anything that goes into my dogs mouth goes into mine first, so I tried to Hobo Chili. It was so surprisingly like people food. It makes me feel like a better pet parent providing my dog with food that I could very well put on my plate. He loves all 4 flavors. My wife and I just wanted to let you know that finding your brand of dog food has been a huge relief to us. We have a 3 yr old Coton DeTulear who has always been a very picky eater. We spent half our time trying to get her to eat and the other half worrying about when she didn't. I want to let you know that I have a black labrador dog who is now 12 years old. Up to last September 2008 he always had sores on his front paws and was constantly licking them until they bled. My daughter who works in a pet store, suggested that I switch to Natural Balance® Potato and Duck Formula, from the usual brand that had grains for fillers. After about two weeks, Beau's paw's cleared up and he has never had a problem with the sore since. I cannot thank you enough for coming up with a non-alegenic dog food. I wanted to let you know how happy I am that I discovered Natural Balance dog food. I have 2 Boston Terriers, Gomer and Otis, and the food has been a blessing for us and them. Gomer has been attending Agility training, and uses a lot of snacks. I was worried that he was eating too much of things that really were not good for him in large doses. I read on one website that another Boston owner uses the Natural Balance® Dog Food Rolls for treats. I started off using the dog rolls, Gomer loves them, and I am now confident that he is getting the nutrition he needs and no longer worried about him eating too much of things that are not good for him. We have since switched over to the dry dog food, and they are eating it up. Bostons, have sensitive stomachs, so we have to be careful with what they eat. Since being on Natural Balance, their coats are wonderful, and I know by reading the ingredients section, they are getting a great diet, and their stomachs are in great shape. My beloved cat, Peepers, was horribly sick with inflammatory bowel disease. She was listless and emaciated. Even on Prednizone and pepcid, she was having horrible diarrhea and projectile vomiting. My ten year old Golden Retriever "Cassandra" had been on Hill's Science Diet Ultra ZD for years due to severe food allergies that caused many many ear infections. She tolerated it well but had started having soft stools. With her vet's approval I switched her to your Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Grain-Free food.
