What does single animal protein mean?

At Natural Balance, our “single animal protein” recipes means that all of the animal-based protein in the food comes from just ONE source such as chicken, salmon, duck, lamb, etc. instead of combining multiple animal proteins. You might still see other ingredients in the food, but there won’t be additional animal proteins mixed in.

This type of diet can be especially helpful for dogs with food sensitivities or digestive issues, since limiting the protein source makes it easier to pinpoint and avoid ingredients that may cause a reaction. It also offers a more streamlined approach to nutrition while still delivering the essential amino acids and nutrients dogs need for energy, muscle maintenance, and overall health.

Natural Balance has great options for single animal protein recipes. Natural Balance offers common proteins such as salmon, beef and lamb as well as more novel proteins such as duck, venison & bison. Recipes are tailored for breed size and age, with small breed, large breed and puppy recipes available.

Natural Balance pioneered the Limited Ingredient Diet and continues to lead the industry in Limited Ingredient dog and cat food. That’s why veterinarians recommend Natural Balance Limited Ingredient recipes for dogs with dietary sensitivities.
